BMW Sauber’s Nick Heidfeld lead the field on the opening day of testing at Jerez on Tuesday. Heidfeld clocked his best lap on non-grooved tyres, as Bridgestone began an early evaluation of slicks ahead of their possible return in 2009.

Michael Schumacher will test for Ferrari soon for the first time after his retirement. He has been always very close to the team, and remain as part of the family. He also play a “Special Advisor” role for the Italian team in several grand prix events in 2007 seasons.
